Story #06

The photo is of our most recent market and shows my daughter @elliepgreen and her boyfriend @oliver.batstone, helping out on the stall. It reminds me of the amazing support and creative ideas that came from my family during the initial stages of beholdt. My daughter came up with many style ideas for the stall. The price cubes and the wonderful striped ticking fabric (which everyone comments on) were her choice. My husband used his design skills to help realise my graphics and branding. (He also made my little iroko shelves) My son @rcrdcrd is a real ideas man and has been my constant social media & website support guy.

This photo was taken in front of the Portuguese cafe which has kept me fuelled with great value coffee, homemade cake and the best custard tarts. I am sorry that they are having to close while the arches in Brixton are refurbished. I hope that they are able to return in a year’s time. Obrigado!

Screen Shot 2016-04-11 at 09.48.28It is especially exciting to see beholdt items being used for a meal. It is fun to see this little green bowl in pride of place holding a beautiful, bright, home made salsa. Hopefully it will be useful for many different meals as my son and his girlfriend move in to their new home. Thanks for taking the time to share this photo.

Screen Shot 2016-04-03 at 09.29.33Our first customer of the day, at the MDAM Easter market, was out for an early run and bought these items. We were just launching #beholdtstories with our little Moo minicards to encourage people to share photos of their purchased items. However, we forgot to hand out the card and decided to race after the customer. She looked a little surprised but was true to her word and shared her photo on instagram. Thanks for sharing your beholdt story.

SONY DSCA lovely lady set up shop at Pop Brixton selling vintage fashion as well as doing alterations for customers and running workshops. As if that wasn’t enough, this busy lady has started a vintage & makers market supporting her fellow traders. She always makes time to chat and has welcomed beholdt to the market. We are very grateful to @makedoandmenduk .

Back in April 2015, beholdt started trading at the Station Road Vintage & Retro Market. We were overwhelmed by the support we received from customers and other traders. Since then we have met many creative, hardworking and determined people making a go of their small businesses. One of our first customers was getting ready to take a brave step towards the new Pop Brixton with their business creating contemporary Vietnamese cuisine. We will always be thankful to them for taking the time to support us with kind words, a smile and by sharing photos of their purchases from beholdt @vietboxbrixton.
